Jamie Moyer is doing well after undergoing minor surgery on Friday.
Moyer checked into Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia
on Tuesday with recurring symptoms from a sports hernia surgery in
October. After an MRI
showed a small blood collection that may have been infected, Moyer
underwent a procedure to wash out the collection on Friday."Jamie is doing very well," Phillies physician Michael Ciccotti said in a statement. "The surgery is not likely to impact his rehab schedule and is likely to have minimal impact on his spring training schedule."
This was the second such setback following surgery. Cue the old man jokes, but as of now, Moyer should be ready for the start of spring training. The 47-year-old southpaw has one year and $8 million remaining on his current contract with the Phillies.
