Stephen Strasburg twisted his knee shagging fly balls yesterday. They say it wasn't necessarily serious, but he "heard a 'pop' in his knee and crumpled to the ground" and is being sent to L.A. to be examined by an orthopedist. This is the best part:

I think that's the only possible reaction to this news if you're Rizzo.
Mark Fidrych revisited?
Millions upon millions for a player that has never faced a professional anything. Paying oodels for "potential"
sigh. How is it that they become GM's with ZERO ability to negotiate?
eeyore - at least Fidrych had ONE good season in the bigs...
Spice - I wouldn't say that cutting the asking price by more than two thirds would qualify as ZERO negotiating skills, especially when haggling with the anti-Christ...

So I'm sure when you graduated college, and entered into your first profession you told your employer that he/she should hold off on paying you for a least a year so you could establish a ground level of production before earning a paycheck rather than pay you on potention.
Sigh...
Fidrych has his good season, hurt his knee in the spring, and was rushed back by a team which had hit bottom for the short term dollar. If Washington even thinks of pitching Strasberg before he is fully healthy, they risk getting nothing in return for their outlay.
