Dierkes has put together an "all-star" team of players who have yet to be signed. The scare quotes denote the fact that, generally speaking the pickings are slim.
Maybe I'm being overly harsh, but I think maybe four of those guys truly deserve to start in the Majors. A few others have an argument for starting but no one will consider it an injustice if they don't. A lot of it is plain old dreck.
But, in keeping with the positive attitude today, the fact that the free agent pickings are extraordinarily slim is but yet another sign that the season is getting closer.

I'm sure every single one of those pitchers could get an MLB offer if they wanted one
Nomar at shortstop, really? Kiko Calero as the closer? yech.
In a tabletop game where you could use the best season of each player, this team would be great.
If Santana gets hurt again, that starting rotation would be better than the Met's.
It looks to me like Dierkes's squad, on any given day, has a chance to beat Toronto, Cleveland, and Oakland in the AL; or Washington, Pittsburgh and Dan Diego in that other league. Also Kansas City on days Greinke doesn't pitch and the Mets on days Santana doesn't. Look guys, lets pool our beer money together, drop a little lysergic acid diethylamide in Uncle Bud's coffee, and get us an MLB franchise started.
Why not resign Pedro. It would be the best deal that Omar has ever made, outside of signing Santana and Bay. Pedro is excellent for the clubhouse, the bench and for tutoring the pitching staff. He can, probably, outpitch the entire pitching staff, outside of Santana. Omar, do something sensibly. That is, if the Wilpons let you.
CC this is very sad day for positive attitudes worldwide pal. I count 17 MLB starting-worthy players (including the honorable mention folks.) The message is - tough market. Not - all of them stink. You're too young to be an effective curmudgeon, I say delay, postpone, procrastinate that shit.
I had no idea that Scott Boras so aggresively expanded his client base this offseason!
Wouldn't this team be an upgrade for the Mets?
